Talking to Your Kids or Not?

I just read an article online about talking to children about events that go on in the world and not keeping it from them. We live in a world now where everything is talked through different kinds of platforms such as news, social media, and face to face interaction. The article basically said that kids talk at school and they go online, so they are bound to figure out what is going on in the world. Susan Peterson, mother of seven who lives in Marysville keeps open dialogue when it comes to her children. “We don’t hide the news from them, we do talk about it.” Experts say that kids are bound to find out information on their own; so it is no point in trying to protect them from it. I feel like it is good to sit down and have a conversation with your kids so that you can educate them on what they saw and heard. Children are very smart and they can put two and two together to know what is going on. Having open dialogue and keeping it one hundred with them can really keep them in the loop as well as teach them a thing or two.
