Dish Network is a satellite communication service that provides cable television at the highest quality possible. In 1980, Dish was founded by Charlie Ergen, Candy Ergen, and Jim DeFranco, three people who at first were trying to give cable service to one person in Colorado. 36 years later, this network is considered one of the top providers nationwide with 14 million subscribers. With about 18,000 employees, their mission statement is, "To be the very best at delivering video anywhere, anytime.” They believe that nobody should not have to pay outrageous prices for television. Compared to other cable services such as Verizon FIOS and Direct TV, Dish Network believes in flexibility in order to give each person more for as low as possible. It continues to keep adding new accessories and packages to its brand for the enjoyment of their customers. They have achieved several milestones and won many awards for their customer service, brand, and innovations that they keep coming up with. The intention is to introduce Dish Network in a professional and newfound light to show people how much they care about the satisfaction of their customers. In order to do that, they will host the Day for Kids event that the Boys and Girls Club of America has nationally to raise money for the community. The Dish Network on Pilot House Drive in Newport News will run this event.
Strengths
Their mission statement and company morale is what motivates Dish to do what they do as well continue to get better.
Dish Network provides 24 hour customer service. Not many TV providers has this benefit to solve any type of issue at any time.
Every single one of Dish’s channels and packages are in High Definition.
Weaknesses
Even though paying low prices for television may sound good, some customers might see their service as cheap and poor quality.
Their cable service is very vulnerable and weak during severe weather conditions.
The acquisition cost can be too expensive in order to gain more subscribers.
Opportunities
By providing the best customer satisfaction, this will encourage others to want join their business.
With their long history and success, their contributions to the community can lead to more brand deals and sponsorships.
With their high premium deals, Dish Network allows their customers to create their own package of channels that they want.
Threats
While Dish Network may be doing something positive for the community, other TV providers will attempt to steal their business by contributing better deals to their customers.
Sometimes there are disputes between the network providers and the satellite companies over costs and fees.
The competition of many and all TV providers continues to increase everyday due to different bundles and deals.
In order to improve the company’s image, Dish Network is going to host the Day for Kids event that the Boys and Girls Club of America has every year nationwide. The club has been doing this for over a decade to bring adults and children together to have fun and celebrate the joys of being a kid. This year Dish will take over the event to help raise money to sponsor more clubs, activities, and services to the foundation. In order to do so, Dish will provide a new premium package deal at a very low price in which the proceeds will go to the club. While this will help bring more opportunities for the club as a whole, this will help change the reputation of the Dish Network. Some people feel that Dish is way too expensive and that their customer service is not professional at all. Benefiting the community, especially involving the youth, will show Dish Network in a different light and possibly give them more subscribers. The event will take place at the Crossroads Village Boys and Girls Club in Newport News. It is an indoor and outdoor festivity and it will have picnics, games, music, and the chance for families to spend a whole day together.
